Courtney served as Director of Development and Communications from 2009-2011 before returning to the Scholarship Foundation team in April 2013. Having begun her career in the newsroom at Nightline with Ted Koppel, Courtney transitioned into nonprofit work as the manager of the book and journalism awards program at the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Human Rights. Courtney’s subsequent nonprofit postings include Refugees International and Food & Friends - a national leader in the provision of nutrition services for the critically ill – where she was responsible for raising nearly $2M annually. A native Midwesterner, Courtney has a BA in History from the University of Michigan and lives in Washington, DC.
