Honoring 243 Years of Legacy
by Lieutenant General George J. Trautman III USMC (Ret.), Chairman, Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation
On November 10, Marines across the globe will commemorate the 243rd birthday of the United States Marine Corps. The next day, our nation will come together to salute service members from all branches on Veterans Day. For Marines, these two days are more than just a celebration, they’re a moment of reflection.
Our 37th Commandant, General Robert Neller, explained it best: “As we pause to celebrate the birth of our Corps this year, we honor the legacy that was passed down to us and we recommit ourselves to carrying those traditions into the future.”
At the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, we take this directive to heart and for more than 55 years have been committed to honoring that legacy and carrying those traditions forward. With your support, our scholarships honor Marines by providing access to affordable education for their children and extending Corps values to new generations of leaders raised on Honor, Courage, and Commitment.
Thank you for your dedication to our mission of Honoring Marines by Educating Their Children.
Semper Fidelis,
Lieutenant General George J. Trautman III USMC (Ret.)
