22 years later: Never forget – honoring those we lost

Every year, 11 September brings an array of emotions as we reflect upon the events that unfolded in 2001. The pain, fear, and tragedy that’s etched into our memories remains as clear today as it was 22 years ago. Both the images of the burning towers, and the devastating loss serve as a painful reminder of the fragility and uncertainty of life.

Amidst the darkness, 11 September also serves as a symbol of resilience, unity, and compassion. It’s a testament to our strength as individuals and to the power we hold when we unite as a Nation. Strangers became heroes, extending their hands and hearts to those in need, transcending barriers of race, religion, and nationality. We witnessed everyday people rising above themselves, united in grief, determined to heal and rebuild a better future.

The heart of our mission at the Scholarship Foundation is honor and remembrance.  Please join me in a moment of silence to honor those who were taken from this world too soon, all who lost their loved ones, those who had to bear witness to unspeakable acts of violence, and to the brave heroes who selflessly rushed into danger to save lives.

May we remember this day as a living memorial to commemorate the lives lost and the sacrifices made on 11 September 2001. And may we always remember that even amidst the darkest of times, the light of hope, unity, and love stands as a testament to our one Nation. We will never forget.
