Honoring 245 Years
This week marks two special occasions for our community. First, the 245th birthday of the United States Marine Corps on 10 November, followed by our national observance of Veterans Day.
As these meaningful days approach, I can’t help but think about the challenges we’ve all faced this year. Each of us having been asked to make sacrifices, demonstrate discipline, and support our fellow Americans in ways that are new to many.
It’s during these moments of sacrifice that I’ve found myself reflecting on the qualities that define our Nation’s Marines and veterans: discipline, resilience, and a commitment to service above self. Whether one serves for four years or twenty, the choice to serve bonds us together for a lifetime, and the shared experience of service to a larger cause reminds us of what will help guide our Nation through these challenging times.
This year, I am grateful for your commitment to the larger cause of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. The children we invest in have been raised on the values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. They are our Nation’s most powerful tool with which we can solve today’s problems and prepare for those to come. Our country will clearly benefit from our support of these most deserving young people.
Thank you for your dedication to our mission of Honoring Marines by Educating Their Children, and Happy Birthday, Marines. Continue to stay safe and God Bless our Nation and the citizens that serve the same.
Sincerely,
General Robert B. Neller USMC (Ret.)
