ALEXANDRIA, VA – (March 23, 2023) – The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation (MCSF) is pleased to announce the National Capital Area Campaign Celebratory Gala Award Recipient for 2023. The Marine Corps Aviation Association (MCAA) will be presented with the Semper Fidelis Award on June 24 during the 36th Annual National Capital Area Campaign Celebratory Gala at the Salamander Washington DC.

The Scholarship Foundation’s Semper Fidelis Award is presented to those who demonstrate a recurring commitment to an effort which contributes to the betterment of our society. Celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, the Marine Corps Aviation Association brings together Marines and the civilians who support the mission of Marine aviation and its duty in protecting our Nation. Through their programs, the MCAA honors the legacy of the past and builds towards the future. They fund historic projects, aircraft restoration and, through their more than forty-year partnership with the Scholarship Foundation, scholarships for children of Marines. The partnership between MCAA and the Scholarship Foundation reflects the shared values of both organizations and a mutual dedication to support Marines and their families during their service and beyond. Through their partnership, the MCAA has helped dozens of children of Marines on their educational path, honoring their parent’s service and building the next generation of leaders. LtGen Robert L. Walsh, USMC (Ret.) will accept the award on behalf of MCAA during the Gala in June. “We are honored and humbled by such recognition from The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, and congratulate them on a long history of providing so many opportunities for Marine families to grow and succeed,” said John Rader, the Executive Director of MCAA, and a retired Marine Corps Colonel: “We look forward for a lasting relationship with the Scholarship Foundation. “

The National Capital Area Campaign Gala will also celebrate more than 60 years of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation’s mission to Honor Marines by Educating Their Children. During the 2022-2023 academic year, a record-breaking $10 million in scholarship support was awarded to more than 2,600 children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen from across the country.
