Memorial Day Reflections
by Lieutenant General George J. Trautman III USMC (Ret.), Chairman, Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation
This Memorial Day, our nation will pause to reflect on the price of the many freedoms we enjoy as Americans. Our nation offers a unique way of life for the many – guaranteed by the sacrifices of a few.
It is all too easy to distance ourselves from the many demands placed upon our servicemen and women. Our Marines are never far from danger and the Corps’ losses each year make Memorial Day all the more reflective.
To our fallen Marines, we owe a debt that can never be repaid. So, at this critical moment of remembrance for our country, we reaffirm our commitment to the Marines who have given their lives in service to our country. By investing in the education of their children, the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation continues to honor their sacrifice – building a future that would make them proud.
On behalf of the Scholarship Foundation, our board of directors, staff scholars and Marine families everywhere, I wish you and your family all the best on this Memorial Day.
Semper Fidelis,
Lieutenant General George J. Trautman III USMC (Ret.)
Chairman
